Body Paint by Skin City Takes Top EDC 2012 Award

High winds may have halted a portion of last weekend’s Electric Daisy Carnival, but Skin City Body Painting truly took the festival by storm. Robin had all her artists’ hands on deck at the Skin City Studio for a marathon of outrageous, mind-blowing body paint creations for dozens of adventurous party-goers. All the hard work and innovation paid off big time as two Skin City clients, Chris and Sierra won EDC’s You Are The Headliner Costume Contest.

“We received VIP backstage passes,” said the happy winner Chris, “and a limo AND helicopter escort to and from EDC for the rest of the weekend.”

“Chris is a client we first saw at Halloween,” said Skin City owner Robin Slonina. Chris was painted as a half devil/half angel for Vegas’ 2011 Fetish & Fantasy Halloween Ball. “He had such a blast partying in his body paint all night, that he brought Sierra this time for EDC.”

This time, Chris requested an upper body paint job of exposed, anatomically-realistic muscles, while Sierra went for a full-body half leopard/half tiger concept.

“What I like about these two, is that they came to Skin City with a vision and described exactly how they wanted to look,” said Slonina. “It’s really fun to take our clients’ dreams into reality, as they watch their concepts come to life.”

Lead artists Ragen Mendenhall and Steve Horlock and assistant Nicole Smolenyak had no trouble pouring all their creative energy into these awesome challenges. Nikki and Sage provided Sierra’s wild hair and makeup, respectively.

“Our artist Steve took the job very seriously, studying anatomy reference pictures before they came in. And even doing a test run on a friend’s arm. I think all the hard work paid off. The muscles looked so real! But in the end, the credit definitely goes to Chris and Sierra’s vision.”

“It was worth every penny!” said Chris. “I’m a returning customer for a reason. I loved getting so much attention from the body paint! They did a great job!”
